Brno New Train Station and its Public Spaces
Velfl, Martin ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
The topic discussed in Brno for several decades is certainly the building of the new main railway station and its location. Countless architectural and urban studies have been done especially in 2018, which examined three possible locations of the station. After considering the possibilities, it was decided to place a new railway station near by the Svratka river. The advantage of the chosen location is the possibility of constructing a high-speed track, which is not possible in the current position of the station. Furthermore, this area allows the construction of a station on a green field, without limiting train traffic during the works. The capacity of the new designed train station represents an increase of 30-40 thousand passengers per day. Total capacity is approximately 100,000 passengers per day. However, construction activity in the area is limited by the flood risk factor. It is an effort to eliminate this risk with elements inspired by nature. These solutions include for example widening profle of the river , determining floodplains in such a way as to maintain access to the river. The diploma thesis offers a possible view of the architectural solution of the new railway station and its public spaces. The entrance hall of the station is located at one end of the visual axis, which is represented by the considered boulevard. The dominant building on the opposite side is the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul. The requirements and location of the new main station mean an assumption for the creation of a new city icon. The iconic vaulted structure, which runs across the railway bridge, refers to the former glory and fame of the city. The curve of catenary arch used in the profile of vault is a symbol for the new station. The new station represents a significant impulse not only for the development of Brno, but especially for the development of new South district. The construction of the trade fairs complex a hundred years ago had a similer effect.

Geometry in architecture
BÁRTOVÁ, Michaela
The reader will understand the relationship between geometry and everyday life. Selected curves and bodyes are mathematically described. It is illustrated with photos of architectural elements. 3D models are made in GeoGebra and SketchUp. Blending theory and practice to help understand the geometry. It can be used for teaching math and geometry. This thesis discusses about the conic, selected technical curves and quardics.
Geometry in real life
ZOUBEK, Tomáš
The aim of this diploma thesis is a set of methodical materials for geometry education on primary, secondary schools and possibly during the basic courses on a university. This materials will be based on real geometry phenomenon which we meet every day. The knowledge and understanding of this phenomenon might play an important part during studies of mathematics and geometry. It also shows mathematics and geometry in their close relationship with the real world. The part of the description this phenomenon presented will be solved examples, examples for demonstration and also examples for practise. They are prepared a task, solution and a methodical reviews for each exercise. When preparing this work, it was used his current knowledge of methodology of mathematics and it was selected such forms, means and didactics procedures, which will go together with requirements on a visual solution (mathematical and geometrical software, an interactive whiteboard, worksheets, ) and with the purpose of the example presented (it´s interpretation, practise, testing, ). The part of this diploma thesis are worksheets. This worksheets can help get to know with geometrical phenomena in this work. The worksheets have primary and secondary school level.
Geometry around us
ZOUBEK, Tomáš
There are different geometric shapes , as well as speeches and applications or different geometrical properties in engineering practice in everyday lives . Knowing and understanding these phenomena may play an important role in the study of mathematics and geometry , showing these disciplines in their close relationship to the real world . The aim of this work is to develop a set of materials that will be dedicated to such phenomena. So that it can be used for teaching mathematics and geometry.
